STEPS OF GRACE: A BRILLIANT WRITING OF INSIGHT AND HUMOR

Steps of Grace is one of the best records of an individual's discovery of the Catholic Church. Mr. Gonzales is a brilliant man, who writes with total honesty and wit. I particularly enjoyed and have re-read several times the chapter dealing with well-meaning but very suspicious and sometimes paranoid anti-Catholic writers; the pages dealing with the outrageously inaccurate tracks by one writer in particular was very humorous, and ultimately, very revealing about anti-Catholic writers and their distortion about Catholic beliefs and practices. I look forward to more writings of Doug Gonzales.

Incredible ongoing journey.

I enjoyed the author's candid and honest account of a journey that is not yet finished. His devotion to the quest of finding out what God wants for him leads him beyond what church officials dictate. The author displays a passion for life, faith, and a courage to seek a deeper understanding of the spiritual that is so often missing in today's society.

I worked on the Steps of Grace manuscript with Doug as a developmental editor. Working with Doug's chapter-by-chapter content closely, I focused, of course, on technical issues. Soon, however, I was drawn into Doug's journey on so many levels not only confined to the religious. It shares with readers his unending devotion not only to his own spiritual discovery but also his amazingly personal self-discovery--unlike anything readers can expect. Taking one step at time with Doug, readers become intimately connected not only to his life's journey but also the shocking revelations of an intensely complex and passionate man. Steps of Grace is an allegory for everyman's journey towards the pain and joy of self-actualization, a place where readers can insert their own struggles and be comforted and guided by Doug's wisdom, passion, and grace.
