Easy to follow and carry

This is a good very basic grammar book that is easy to follow as it is well indexed and good sized print. It is also lightweight and easy to pack and use as a "travelling" grammar book for those going to immersion weekends or school. Learners will know that many Irish grammar and dictionaries are huge. Like that I can tuck this in a purse.

I am honored that you are using this text to guide you in your journey to provide your students with a better understanding of how race and racism operate in our society.
This book is designed to assist scholars who wish to teach race and racism, yet do not want to tiptoe around complex issues. Instead, Race and Racisms offers a wealth of empirical evidence that leaves no trace of doubt that our society is plagued by racism and that this country was founded on a legacy of genocide and slavery. Moreover,�Race and Racisms�offers readers the tools they need to think critically about race.
In�Race and Racisms, I develop the notion that race is an ideology and a set of practices. I expand upon this interpretative framework throughout the text by incorporating classical and cutting-edge scholarship on race and racism and marshaling a wide range of evidence that demonstrates how race and racisms operate in our society.

The first book I have bought and read front to back!

This is the ONLY book for far that I have seen that was worthy of a FULL purchase! I have been in college since 2012 and I see a lot of books that do not catch my attention or fall short of its use in the classroom. This book speaks volumes of the truth and honestly should be a must read for everyone. The chapters are short and sweet but FULL of information not only on racial inequality but also gender inequality. FIVE STARS

I love to question why people are the way they are

I love to question why people are the way they are. This is why I majored in sociology. With so much going on and people bringing up does racism really exist today. This is the best book I have found to open your eyes to how America does benefit whites more then any other race. This book will show you how some laws are racist in nature, meaning they target black people more so then whites. This book teaches you that if you really want to end racism it isn't just police brutality. We are in a racist system. Things like sending resources to black neighborhoods and black schools instead of giving white schools the best resources. Even the house market is racist. White people, are you willing to stop banks overvaluing your property so that they stop undervaluing black property? Things like this is why we have a racist system.

      I first used SPSS on a mainframe computer at a university. Researchers needed programmers who used 3-ring binders to write the statistical procedure code on punch cards. Fast forward and today we have "SPSS for Psychologists." I have found this the most user friendly source on the market - and I have a shelf full of references and printouts from the web. If you want to learn how to run and interpret a statistical procedure, this will be your best step-by-step guide. Highly recommended.

      I use this as a hands-on reference book, and I find that it is often very helpful. Clear directions and examples, and you can download data from their site. Excellent guide for SPSS.

      I just wish they had more instructions on creating and modifying figures in SPSS.

      Massive Help for my Report!

      Very clearly and concisely explained; I purchased this book to assist me with a Project write up for my degree as I was failing to grasp some of the concepts of the F ratio and what it actually meant, and despite substantial research couldn't get a straight answer. This book gave it to me straight away, which helped clear my mind to see where I was going wrong with my results section. I will also be using this later on this year with my new module which deals with more complex statistics and reporting as it covers everything in such an easy to understand manner. Thoroughly recommend.

      Bert Rosenbloom earned his Ph.D. at Temple University. He currently is a professor of marketing and Rauth Chair in Electronic Commerce in the LeBow College of Business, Drexel University, and editor of the Journal of Marketing Channels. He has served on the editorial boards of several publications including the Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of International Consumer Marketing. Dr. Rosenbloom also serves on the ad hoc review boards of the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Retailing. He is former president of the International Management Development Association and former vice president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Marketing Association.       Great book

      I can't remember keeping a book after passing a class, but this is one of the few exceptions. The information the author provides is clear, and interesting! I enjoyed learning how different companies move products and all the complicated procedures involved to get items to the final consumer, or other businesses. Also, the real-world examples that are discussed in the cases will not change often, the only issue is the companies that are presented may have gone bankrupt. It may seem like common sense after reading, but many people would never think of how many of the concepts discussed in the book are used in the real world. I recently graduated with a BS, and feel I learned the most from this book than any one I read in the past. If you are interested in logistics and/or marketing, this will probably be the most useful source of information you will need.

      Not many choices....

      Used for a graduate level marketing class. Very dry and not the best marketing book by a long shot. However, according to our professor there aren't many choices related to "Marketing Channels." There is very little (almost non-existent) help from the related web resources and the powerpoints that are available don't always follow the text. Basically the book needs to be updated.

The author, host of ESPN’s Sport Science, begins with Roger Bannister’s 1954 breaking of the four-minute mile. Many people had seriously wondered if this landmark could ever be achieved, but after Bannister did it, more than 300 people followed suit over the next decade. That happened not only because Bannister proved it could be done (and so inspired others to try) but also because human beings are getting faster and stronger, and athletic techniques are constantly being refined and augmented. The book is full of startling facts: the current U.S. record for holding one’s breath, for example, is a breathtaking 7 minutes and 21 seconds. But here’s the book’s most arresting element: using a variety of disciplines, including physics and physiology, Brenkus extrapolates into the future, showing us when we will reach our absolute limit of performance.       Fun book. A must for sports fans.

      My 14-year old science-loving son enjoys watching "Sport Science" clips on YouTube, plus he constantly asks questions about the limits of human performance. What is the highest possible dunk? The fastest possible 100m? The mightiest possible power lift? I thought that this book would be a definite hit for him. We pre-ordered the book and it arrived yesterday. I got a chance to read it before my son got home and knew that he would really enjoy it. When he saw the book he immediately rushed to read it. Of course, he wanted to just get to The Numbers at first:) John Brenkus (who is the host of Sport Science) does a wonderful job of making this topic fun and interesting, plus he does a nice job on the analytical bits where he explains how he (or rather the experts he quotes) actually get to The Numbers.

      One quibble: The book keeps on going on about what we could theoretically eventually achieve in time, but - hey - we will be a different species by then given our rate of evolution. Huh? According to one expert, we are a different species than we were 200 years ago and we will certainly be a different species in a 1000 years. Hmmm. Strange.

      Remember this book is full of statistical models about theoretical maximums. [Note: I am a statistician by training so I appreciate statistical models for what they are.] There is certainly no guarantee that humans will reach these theoretical maximums, but remember these are just that - theoretical maximums. A human will NEVER run a 100m faster than 8.99 seconds. Will he ever reach the theoretical maximum? Maybe, maybe not. He will approach the theoretical maximum, but he never will surpass it because he never can surpass it due to human limitations. (This is where the different species stuff comes in; a different species of human - one more "evolved" - would have different limitations, and, thus, different theoretical maximums and all that).

      Now that man has goals to aim for, he will certainly have a better shot at reaching the theoretical maximums. Thank you, John Brenkus, and good luck, mankind!

      A good read, informative and fun

      I enjoyed this book. I picked it up at the library after reading the review in the Wall Street Journal, who liked it too. I like that there are self-contained chapters, that you don't need to read all of them. It's also really interesting to put your guess in at the start of the chapter. Chapters I enjoyed the most were the 100-yd dash, how far a golf ball can be hit, and how high can a basketball rim be that can still be dunked on.

      If you like sports, and like sports science, then you will like this book.

      543 Yards: The Limit Off The Tee

      Records are made to be broken, or so it is said. At some point, however, one can run into the limits of physics and human physiology. It's probably not possible for a baseball player to hit a home run that travels a mile, for example. Why? Because the momentum the baseball would needed to overcome the air resistance over the course of a 5,280 foot home run could not be produced by a human, whether on steroids or not. That would simply exceed what we are designed to do.

      We can do the math, if you like, but I'll warn you, your eyes would glaze over, so I will skip it for now.

      Or, alternatively, we can let someone else do the math and we can look at their results.

      John Brenkus, the host and executive producer of ESPN's Sport Science did just that to provide a hard look at the absolute limits of human performance. In a new book, Brenkus finds the "Perfection Point" for several sports, golf included, by determining the speeds, heights, distances that mark the limits of human performance. To do this, he used statistics, physics, and physiology to uncover the limits for the longest golf drive, among other sports, such as the longest home run, the fastest time for a mile in track and field, the heaviest bench press in weightlifting, etc.

      Brenkus results are not a dry math and physics lesson suitable only for a university lecture to engineering students, instead, his illustrations are not only informative, they are quite entertaining and easily understandable.

      In the world of golf, Brenkus's examination for driving the ball found a 543 yard theoretical limit, a 23% increase (125 yards) from the current record of 418 yards held by current long-drive champion Jamie Sadlowski. Brenkus states that Sadlowski has slight technical flaws in his swing, and that correcting them would add another 17 yards to the 418 yard record. He also notes that with more flexibility, added height and yes, more muscle, more yards can be added to reach his calculated limit.

      I have the English version of this book. It is an excellent text exhibiting the wealth of clinical experience of Dr Murtagh. Common conditions (as well as not so common maladies) encountered by GPs are dealt with in-depth. Murtagh approaches the topics with a practical, clinical approach; the GP will find the book extremely digestible and applicable to their daily practice. I find the "common pitfalls" section very useful. It allows us to think laterally when approaching an apparently simple condition. If you need a book to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills, this book is the one.

      The best book for general medicine I ever read. The older version in this 3rd edition gives the chance to read the book completely-the successor is already too big and one gets lost. The condition for an used book is very good, the seller can just be praised.
