On the other hand, it is an excellent source of ideas for school carnivals and fairs. The text (which does not cite an author) stresses that young children can usually sit still for a maximum of five minutes and that many are nervous about face-painting and need reassurance along the way. It offers advice about crowd control and setting up workshops to teach others the skills. Proper cautions are provided. A word of wisdom when attempting these attractive designs--plan on more than five minutes per face--especially if you need to allow a base color to dry before applying the second coat. Fast face painting for kids of all ages

No matter what your kids want to dress up as, this 45 page book will help you get them in disguise in a jiffy. Large color photos are wonderful guide and faces included are: clown,pierrot,masquerade,snow queen, indian brave, flower girl, pirate, lion, tiger, scary faces for halloween, animals and more! Very good book with instructions about the basics with plenty of designs to choose to try for years to come.

Ok if you only have five minutes

This book is for the mom who is looking for something to get her through a birthday party and not for those seriously looking to get into face painting as a serious hobby or business. The faces are basic and offer little for the imagination. If it were much less expensive it would get better reviews, but at the same cost you can get much better face painting books from the market. Check it out at the library instead.

Not enough ideas for me

I wanted a good face painting book to use with my three-year-old, but this book wasn't much help. It has a good tiger and clown. Other faces in the book were either too simple to need directions (i.e. paint a flag on the cheek) or too abstract or scary for my little guy.

A semi-empirical, or "grey-box", MRF model may be regarded as a trade-off
between a knowledge-based model and a "black-box" (empirical) model. It may
embody all the existing knowledge on the process (or a part thereof) and, in
addition, it relies on parameterized functions whose parameters are determined from measurements.

Observations contain hidden information on the processes under consideration
and one of the main purposes of the proposed method is to "extract" and describe these hidden relationships. Parameterization offers ways to couple qualitative with quantitative analysis. This combination makes it possible to take into account all the phenomena that are not modeled with the required accuracy through prior knowledge. Although only a simplified picture of the processes is modeled, a "grey box" system model provides some insight into the system processes. These processes are featured by chains of causality, highlighting stressors and variables responsive to stressors.

The method of response functions is a nonlinear regression method that implies credible models in the sense that they are identifiable and, hopefully, explain system output behavior satisfactorily.

For case studies the authors have selected the problems usually studied by
psychologists and sociologists with statistical procedures, such as investigation of variance and discriminant analysis based on the general linear model or one of its multivariate generalizations (structural equation models, etc.); disordered eating and obesity; subjective well-being and alexithymia. An accompanying CD-ROM contains the demonstration versions of three models that are discussed in the various chapters.

This book brings the story of African American artist William H. Johnson (1901-1970) to light. Born in South Carolina, Johnson moved to New York as a teenager to live with his uncle, working as a hotel porter, cook, and stevedore -- and earning admission to the School of the National Academy of Design, where he won almost every student prize available. A trip to Europe became permanent residence after he married Danish textile artist Holcha Krake. He enjoyed wide success until World War II forced the couple to move to New York. After his wife's death Johnson's physical and mental health collapsed and after 1947 he never painted again.Steve Turner traces the fate of Johnson's huge body of work, indifferently managed for him by court-appointed guardians and the Harmon Foundation.

About the Author
C. XAVIER teaches in the Department of Computer Science at St. Xavier College in Palayamkottai, India. He has published numerous papers on parallel algorithms and more than ten computer science textbooks.

S. S. IYENGAR is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University. He has published several books and more than 220 papers on high-performance algorithms and data structures and has headed research projects for such organizations as the Office of Naval Research, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, and others. He is a Fellow of the IEEE for research contributions to data structures and algorithms and received the University Distinguished Faculty Award.

Book has too many errors

This book has numerous errors. I am surprised it was printed in the first place. I found myself having to derive any equation they show because I eventually just didn't trust what the book said.
